Outside of research
When I am not thinking about the research stuff, I enjoy:
- Chinese Chess (Xiangqi): I grew up competing in tournaments and still love the mix of strategy and creativity.
- Reading: I enjoy novels, essays, and biographies, also occasionally read books on science and the history of mathematics.
- Exploring new places: Walking around campus, lakeside paths, and finding quiet spots to read or think.
These activities keep me grounded and often give me fresh perspectives on my research.

A few snapshots from places that have been especially meaningful to me recently:
- Lake Mendota, Madison: A quiet place to think through research ideas and unwind after work.
- St. Joseph’s Lake, University of Notre Dame: Where I spent a summer working on scientific machine learning, often ending the day with a walk by the water.
